Union of Concerned Scientists is the leading science-based nonprofit working for a healthy environment and a safer world. They combine independent scientific research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and to secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices, and consumer choices. The Union of Concerned Scientists stands out among nonprofit organizations as the reliable source for independent scientific analysis. The scientists and policy experts on their staff are highly respected in both Washington, DC, and state capitols, and are frequently called to testify before government committees. Architecture 2030 is a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization. In 2002, internationally recognized architect Edward Mazria established this organization in response to the global-warming crisis. Alliance for the Great Lakes Initially formed in 1970 as the Lake Michigan Federation, this organization became the Alliance for the Great Lakes in 2005. Michigan Land Use Institute The MLUI focuses its work on land stewardship, energy development, resource protection, agriculture, transportation, and environmental and economic policy. Clear The Air is a national public education campaign to combat Global Warming. Clear the Air brings together grassroots organizations, national environmental groups, and policy experts to make the case for stricter pollution controls to communities, government agencies, elected representatives, and the media. NextEnergy is a non-profit corporation founded to enable the commercialization of energy technologies that positively contribute to economic competitiveness, energy security and the environment.
